We are a small family living an intentional life on a couple of acres in the high desert foothills of Colorado.
Our family comprises not only myself, my wife, and the kids, but also a few dozen chickens (their numbers fluctuate regularly) as well as two llama boys in training.
We spend our energy working to create an ecologically sustainable micro farm here in the dryland southwest. We picked the name Green Desert Eco-Farm because it is who we are, and what we do. Our energies will gradually turn our small piece of desert into an oasis of abundant life.
When we first arrived, even the birds didn’t visit our farm. Now, just one short season later, we have resident quail and doves, migrating songbirds, and lots of deer and rabbits. No squirrels yet, as the most mature tree tops out at 15 feet and is yards and yards away from its nearest neighbor.
Although currently our lifestyle is subsidized by my “regular” job, we are working toward a self-sufficient means of living, here on our small farm.
This website is about our experiences, and also about our ideas and our projects. As we embark upon a path of community and sustainability, expect to read about our CSA and our various farm animals, and even some about ourselves.
You can also read a blog of my thoughts about the present and the future and how we normal folk can help create the world we actually want to live in for the next 50 years.
A fellow blogger has inspired me to DO more, so we will certainly have lots of doing on these pages.
